First Summer's Night

Summer is quickly approaching and I find myself wondering how to navigate sweltering temperatures and bright sunshine with a baby.  There are so many things to worry about, least of which is the red hot seat belt, which I just know will burn my little one's back eventually, no matter how vigilant I am at keeping it out of the way.  (Curse you, hot metal!)  Part of me worries that Clara will hate the ridiculous heat (I know I do), but the other half of me knows she will tolerate it with grace and happiness, like she does most things.

So here's to a little bit of sweat, two pairs of sunglasses, two swimsuits, and lots of memories.

  1. So, my mom swears by this trick for avoiding burning little ones on seat belts. When she went anywhere, she brought some of those blue ices (you know, the ones us uncool kids had in our home-packed lunches) and baby blankets - she'd put the blue ice directly on the metal part of the seatbelt and then wrap it in the baby blanket. Even if the metal is in the direct sun, it keeps it to at least a touchable temperature!
